I'm really busy these days. But, fortunately, I could take a day off today. So I went to Akihabara. I wondered what I should buy for a while, then I decided to buy additional memory modules for my PC and Mac.

My PC was built in June 2009. It was the latest machine at that time. Main features are Core i7 920, 6GB DDR3 1600, Intel X25-E & RAID5 HDDs, GeForce GTX285, etc. But they went obsolete soon. I don't have much money to replace the whole system, so I bought 6GB additional memory modules to improve its performance. Some people think 6GB is enough. However, it isn't enough to run several virtual machines on the host simultaneously.

The product is CFD's DDR3 1600 2GB x 3 modules. I worried about their compatibility with existing OCZ modules.

I orderd A MacBook Pro 15inch at Apple Store Online on May 3rd. It arrived a week later. I have used it for a month. It was my first IntelMac. My previous main notebook was a PowerBook G4 12inch that I bought in 2004. I used FireWire cable to transfer the data from PBG4 to the new MacBook Pro.

I'm using Intel X25-E, which is still the fastest SSD, as a system drive.

I tried to install Windows 7 x64 on my test PC 3 weeks ago. Windows Experience Index wasn't so bad. However, I've had many troubles with the PC since I installed Windows 7.

• The performance of RAID5 volume was really bad. Two HDDs were broken physically.
• And its rebuild process were extremely slow.
• S3 sleep sometimes failed.
• iPod touch sometimes failed to sync.

I tried to install Windows 7 RC x64 on VMware Workstation.

Host OS: Windows XP SP3 (32bit)
Guest OS: Windows 7 RC x64
VMware version: VMware Workstation 6.5.2

It was extremely easy. You don't need any help. I wonder why VMware can run a 64bit OS on a 32bit OS. But it works!

I checked Windows Experience Index. But it showed very disappointing scores.
GeForce GTX 285, one of the most powerful video card, was completely useless on VMware environment.
